Sitrin transforms lives by providing healing, encouraging hope, and celebrating achievement.
The STARS (Success Through Adaptive Recreation and Sports) Program provides sporting opportunities to people with physical disabilities at a recreational, competitive, and Paralympic level. Sitrin offers outlets in curling, basketball, road racing, shooting, paddling, and biathlon. Physical activity and social interaction are paramount in the program, and vital to athletes’ overall mental and physical health. STARS focuses on community involvement and aims to increase physical fitness among individuals with physical disabilities.
Sitrin’s Military Program is designed to treat veterans and service members experiencing physical, emotional, and cognitive issues. The program is different from conventional veteran care, personalizing treatment options and social activities based on each individual’s needs and interests. Those who have experienced traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injuries, amputations, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideations, and other symptoms have benefited from Sitrin’s unique approach to care.
Huntington’s Disease (HD) and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) are neurodegenerative diseases that, at the present time, do not have a cure. They cause serious physical and cognitive impairments in those affected by the disorders. These can include a loss of movement or involuntary movements, difficulty with speech or swallowing, changes in behavior, dementia-like symptoms, and much more. This, in turn, increases the demand for patient-centered care from skilled health professionals.
Sitrin is a "learn-through-play" child care center and holds the philosophy that children learn best by playing and discovering the world around them. Throughout the day, children partake in hands-on, age-appropriate activities that encourage erudition, imagination, and exploration. A Kindergarten-readiness curriculum is presented through classroom lessons, interactive play, monthly themes, and goals.
After injury, illness, or surgery, returning home is the ultimate goal. Sitrin's inpatient team works together to ease this transition by aiding individuals in regaining strength, stamina, and overall health. Once admitted, the team creates a customized treatment plan to address each patient’s needs. Patients receive round-the-clock comprehensive care in a comfortable setting from onsite physicians, therapists, and nurses. They help maximize functional abilities and provide emotional strength and confidence to help individuals get back to everyday life.
